Sigourney Weaver Joins Liam Neeson in ‘A Monster Call’

The actress known for her role in the Alien franchise will play alongside Felicity Jones and Liam Neeson in the movie directed by Juan Antonio Bayona (The Impossible).

Sigourney Weaver has signed on for a role in A Monster Calls, a feature adaptation of Patrick Ness’s children fantasy novel. The story follows a young by who is trying to deals with his bullying classmates and with his mother’s terminal illness. He’s doing this by hiding in a fantastical world through the guidance of a tree monster.

Weaver will play the boy’s grandmother, a woman with whom the kid has to live upon his mother’s death. The original idea of the story belongs to the author Siobhan Dawd who died before publishing the book. Patrick Ness picked up the novel and made it public.

Jones will play the role of the boy’s mother while Neeson will play the role of the titular monster. The executive producers of the movie are Bill Pohlad, Mitch Howeits, Jeff Skoll, Jonathan King and Patrick Wachsberger, the co-chairman on Lionsgate Motion Picture.

A Monster Calls will hit the theaters in North America on Oct 14, .
